Visit Skálholt
Skálholt is one of Iceland's greatest historical sites and a bishop's seat since 1056. In the basement of the church there is an exhibition with artifacts and fragments of history. You can book guided tours for groups of 10 or more people throughout the year with a guided tour of the area. Please send an email to skalholt@skalholt.is to book a guided tour around Skálholt.

Skálholt Cathedral is open every day of the year from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and masses are every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
Skálholt Cathedral was consecrated in 1963 and is the tenth church that stands there in the same place. The first one was built shortly after the year 1000 when Icelanders converted to Christianity.
